Women's Christmas Gift Guide

Monday, November 26, 2018

I love writing my Christmas guides and trying out new products to share with you all. Here I have a selection of items which would make great gifts for women of all ages.

Impulse have a range of new Limited Edition Body Mists. They have the Go Get Glitter collection with Coconut Spritz + Glitter Bomb and Melted Candy + Unicorn Dust, both have sweet scents that make you think back to the fun of summer. Both scents are available exclusively at Superdrug with an RRP of £6. They also have their Instagram Stars collection with body mists designed by Sophie Hannah and Helen Anderson. Mermaid Waves + Peachy Paradise by Sophie Hannah and Violet Palms + Neon Nights by Helen Anderson are both more adventurous scents. These two are available exclusively at Boots with an RRP of £6. They would make a great stocking filler item for any beauty loving ladies.

I am a big fan of using essential oils in the home. I use them for many reasons as they have so many health benefits. I use an essential oil moisturiser for my face, I use tea tree oil or lavender oil to heal piercings, cuts etc. and I use a diffuser around the house using a range of different oils depending on how I feel. One thing I hadn't tried before was an oil burner so I was so excited to receive this beautiful sandstone oil burner from ANUUK along with some essential oil blends.  You simply pop a tea light candle in the bottom of the burner and some water in the metal cup at the top along with a few drops of essential oil. I have to say I absolutely love the oil burner! The essential oil blends that I tried along with the burner were Decadence and Aurora;
Decadence The scent: Exotic flowers and fruits, hot sand and burning sun
The energy: Uplifting, energising, exciting
Aurora The scent: forest walks, fresh air, connection to nature
The energy: grounding, supporting
I really liked both essential oil blends but decadence was my personal favourite. It has notes of Ylang Ylang which I love along with frangipani, lemon, lime and myrrh. It is very fruity and floral. Aurora was also lovely and contains spruce black, fir, cypress, pine and eucalyptus, this one is very fresh and definitely reminds me of being outdoors. I love how well the scents compliment each other, I had worried that the blends would be overpowering but they obviously know what they are doing!

These would make the perfect gift to help the women in your life feel relaxed and rejuvenated surrounded by the calming scents. The oil burner costs £20 and the oil blends start at £22.

I love The Lakes Gin Bauble Gift Set, it contains six 5cl baubles full of gin, two of each variety. It contains 2 x The Lakes Gin, 2 x The Lakes Sloe Gin Liqeur and 2 x The Lakes Damson Gin Liquer. It is a great novelty gift for Gin lovers and the flavours sound amazing. I look forward to sharing some with guests over Christmas. They are available to buy at Find Me A Gift and are currently £29.99.

For the book lovers, The Love Detective is the first in a series by Angela Dyson.

Clarry Pennhaligan, low on ambition but high on energy, can't seem to come up with a grown-up plan to kick start her life. Planning really isn't her thing. But then she happens upon her true vocation: snooping. Discovering other people's secrets and getting paid for it. What could possibly go wrong? Well... as it turns out, just about everything and soon Clarry finds herself in real danger.

I really enjoyed this book. I found Clarry to be a really relatable and likeable character and I struggled to put the book down once I had started. There was suspense and thrills and danger, she really is a strong-willed woman. At the end of the book is a sneak peak at the first two chapters for the second instalment and I am looking forward to seeing where she goes next.

Another book suggestion I have is A New Map Of Love by Abi Oliver.

George Baxter has settled for a comfortable life, content as the years unfold predictably- until Win, his wife of 26 years, dies. With his loyal dog Monty by his side, George throws himself into his work as an antiques dealer. His business is at the heart of the village and all sorts pass through the doors, each person in search of their own little piece of history. When George meets local widow Sylvia Newsome, he imagines a different kind of future. But life has more revelations to offer him. Over the course of an English summer, George uncovers some unexpected mysteries from his past that could shape his tomorrows...

I have to admit I haven't finished reading this one yet, I am not a particularly fast reader anyway and with so much going on at the moment I am lucky to read more than a chapter at a time, but so far I am really enjoying this heart-warming book.  We never quite know what will happen to us in life and we could end up with many new starts and journeys along the way.

The Novella Nostalgia series takes classic films and brings them to life using 21st century narratives, making them a great gift for bookworms and film buffs like!

“Lunch with Harry” transfers the classic romance ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ to Regent Street, London in 2016. Audrey Hepburn is recreated in the desirable shape of Dr Ella van Houten who has stood on a man’s foot outside Hamleys, the world’s oldest toy shop. Ella was imagining that she was Holly Golightly, the character that Hepburn played in one of Hollywood’s most romantic films in New York- the most Christmassy city of them all.

In “Gloriana”, dispute resolution lawyer turned author, Oliver Richbell takes from his extensive knowledge of European politics to create a drama inspired by the current socio-political aftermath of Brexit. Taking its theme from the 2008 Tom Cruise film Valkyrie, where conspirers plotted against Adolf Hitler, Richell’s novella tells the tale of those who voted remain plotting in Downing Street with international deals and hopes to kill the Prime Minister.

As you can see from the descriptions above, the stories and genre are totally different. Other books in the series include; Twelve Troubled Jurors based on 12 Angry Men, Forever On Thursdays based on Brief Encounter and The Man Who Hated based on Falling Down. I love Breakfast at Tiffany's, I grew up watching golden era Hollywood movies and loved Audrey Hepburn. It is a film I still watch occasionally now when I want to escape from reality. The books would make great stocking or hamper filling items with books to suit many tastes. They are available to order from Amazon.

Like so many women, I love to make myself feel good with nice underwear and nightwear and I am so impressed with this Doutzen Satin Spiritual Long Slip Dress from Hunkemoller. I don't think any photo could do it justice. It is ankle length but with splits up the side. The material feels lovely and I have to say the sizing is really good. It has adjustable shoulder straps so you can adjust it to fit you perfectly. I am so impressed, it would make a lovely luxury gift for any woman. They actually sell all kinds of lovely nightwear to suit everyone in lots of materials and styles. After browsing the website I definitely have my eye on so many other items. You should definitely head over and take a look for yourself.

This necklace is a handmade piece from Statement Made Jewellery and consists of a silver Buddha face and birthstone gem on a silver chain. It comes in a lovely pouch along with a certificate of authenticity and care instructions to take care of your jewellery. They also have lots of other designs on their website and Etsy page and even do engraving so you can get lovely personalised gifts for your loved ones. I love my new necklace and would be more than happy to receive a lovely meaningful piece of jewellery as a gift. Best of all they are not expensive. This one is priced at £15.90 which seems like the average price on their site. I would definitely recommend checking them out!

You may have seen this in my food and drinks gift guide but as it is something I would love to receive myself I had to also add it in here. As far as I am concerned, it isn't Christmas without Panettone! Sous Chef have a range of different flavours and brands including this Loison Chocolate and Salted Caramel Panettone for £18.95. I have a massive weakness for anything salted caramel so would be so pleased to receive this in a Christmas hamper! They do have the best selection of Panettone I have ever seen. You can view them by clicking here
