Review: Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker

Thursday, November 08, 2018

My kids love food activities. I however, struggle with having the patience to help them all when it comes to these kind of activities. I can't even explain how much I love it when something easy to use without too many ingredients comes along and we actually manage to create something stress-free and fun! The Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker is just that. Included in the kit is; a silicone mould with penguin and snowman shapes, six reusable lollipop sticks and an igloo which can be use to melt the chocolate in with a lid that can stand the finished choc ices. It is as simple as that. You just need to provide the food items as and when needed.

We used a range of different yoghurt flavours including strawberry, raspberry and apricot. We spooned the yoghurt into the mould with the lollipop sticks and placed in the freezer for around 3 hours. About 3 hours later we broke up pieces of milk chocolate (you can use whatever you choose) and placed in the igloo to melt in the microwave. We then removed the frozen yoghurt sticks from the freezer to start immediately dipping into the melted chocolate. We were amazed at how quick the chocolate started to harden so you have to be quick decorating. It was a race against time trying to decorate before the chocolate was too hard. We had a little factory line set up with each child eagerly awaiting their turn.

I think they did really well. They weren't the neatest so once they were coated in chocolate you couldn't quite tell they were penguins or snowmen anymore. I will have a go at some point on my own to see if I can make them look more like the characters. They did however taste amazing! They went down really well and the cost of ingredients was really low so we will definitely make them again. We will definitely experiment with different flavours and extras next time.

The Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker is available at a large range of retailers including Asda, Very  and Smyths Toys

We were sent the item free of charge in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
