Winnie The Pooh 90th Anniversary07:00:00
One of my fondest memories as a child was reading through a big treasury book full of Winnie the Pooh stories. I would read them over and over and never got bored. I loved A.A Milne's storytelling and her lovable characters. I remember my Dad once took me to a toy museum which contained some really old traditional Winnie the Pooh stuffed toys and he bought me two small replica ones from the gift shop, which I still have to this day.
It is amazing to think that this week marks 90 years since the first ever Winnie the Pooh book was published and even more amazing to think that it still maintains popularity 90 years later. Even now you can find Winnie the Pooh merchandise in most shops and the character is recognised by most children.
The Disney Store sent us this lovely Tigger medium stuffed toy to celebrate the big occasion. 'The most wonderful thing about tiggers is I'm the only one.' He is so cuddly and soft as you would expect. I love the Disney Store soft toys, they are always such good quality. It is quite big for a 'medium' sized toy. Tigger was always the most fun, energetic character of the series. The kids have fallen in love with him already and it has encouraged them to take an interest in Winnie the Pooh which has made me happy!
Although I no longer have my old Winnie the Pooh books, I do have an old book that belonged to my cousin when we were kids which was passed on to Gracie when she was born. I think we will definitely be visiting some old classic stories for bedtime over the next few weeks.
Winnie the Pooh, for me, is one of those series where you build such an attachment to the characters, that you just can't decide on a favourite. I do have a huge soft spot for Eeyore as I always felt sorry for him. I loved the innocence of Pooh bear himself and I loved how fun Tigger was.
I would love to know, who was your favourite character?
