An Active Sunday #EnjoyMoreWater21:30:00
I was asked to write a post about how I keep the kids refreshed and hydrated after fun, active play. I am quite lucky that my kids will happily drink water and that is what they drink 90% of the time. I do find though that when given something flavoured they definitely tend to drink more than usual and so if we are planning a long active day out, I always encourage them to drink squash or juice for peace of mind, knowing that they will be well hydrated.
We are quite an active family, you have to be when you have so many small children and want to actually sleep at night! The kids love bike rides, trips to the park and even exploring the woods we have at the end of our street. We are so lucky to live so close to so many green areas with so much choice for energy-busting activities.
Sunday's are always a busy day and this Sunday we took Gracie to theatre class as normal and had so many plans for the afternoon after her class, until our car decided it was time to break. So our plans went straight out the window and we had an opportunity for a spontaneous afternoon. So after picking Gracie up and visiting my Nan to pop round some Birthday cards and gifts, we went shopping for garden items before returning home.
Me and the kids have been working so hard on the garden this week, after spending months being used to store the rubbish from our Kitchen renovation, we now have the space back and are trying to make it awesome for the kids to play in! We are going to put down some AstroTurf so they can play in all weathers and we are filling it with pretty flowers, lights and ornaments in the flower beds. The kids have been wonderful helping with pretty much every job and it is hard work!
We also did something very exciting, we have been rearing Butterflies for the past 6 weeks and cared for them since they were teeny tiny caterpillars, and it was time to let them go! We took a walk to a nice spot near the woods where they would find plenty of flowers and places to find nice homes. It was quite emotional as we had all fallen a little in love with them but we are happy they get to explore now. The video footage is coming soon!
After spending a while playing around the woods and catching glimpses of our butterflies, we got the garden equipment out on the front garden for my three and the kids in the street and they all spent a few hours playing lovely together. Of course the kids were getting pretty worn out by then and they were all so pleased when I bought out a few glasses and some Robinson's Squash'd. They all chose their own favourite flavours and my little helper Zach did the honours of squeezing the juice in for them all! I find the novelty of being able to make their own squash is great in motivating them to drink more too!!
