I was asked to write a post about how I keep the kids refreshed and hydrated after fun, active play. I am quite lucky that my kids will happily drink water and that is what they drink 90% of the time. I do find though that when given something flavoured they definitely tend to drink more than usual and so if we are planning a long active day out, I always encourage them to drink squash or juice for peace of mind, knowing that they will be well hydrated.

Last month at Blog On MSI in Manchester, I met the team at Real Handful. Real Handful make tasty and nutritious blends of the best quality dried fruits, whole nuts and seeds with added yummy ingredients like natural flavours, chocolate and yoghurt. Their aim is to prove that healthier impulse snacks can still taste amazing. After returning home, I received an email asking if I would like to try some of the range and I couldn't say no after trying the delicious Banoffee flavour, which has sadly been discontinued now, in my goody bag.
Anyone with a 5 year old will understand the struggle of the constant questioning stage. I feel like I should change my name to Google or Siri. Gracie is such a curious child and loves to question everything and gain knowledge, not that I would expect any less as I am the same and so is my Dad. Just simply watching a TV programme has us researching to find out everything there is to learn on the subject. As much as I love it, I feel that it isn't quite the same just being told answers rather than learning them yourself in a more visual way. Gracie was sent the new range of Question & Answer books from Miles Kelly Publishing and I couldn't wait to see how we got on.
Everybody wants smooth, sleek tresses but not everyone knows how to perfect their hair. Here, Tangle Teezer share their ten top tips for smoothing your style:
1. Don’t blow dry hair when it’s dripping wet
You’ll usually only blow dry your hair when it’s dripping wet if you’re in a hurry. However, while you think you may be saving time, dripping wet hair takes longer to dry than hair that has been towel-dried.
Before you reach for the hair dryer, gently pat your hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. This will considerably reduce your blow dry time.

As part of the 'Educational Play The Schleich Way' campaign. Schleich has created a brochure which was designed to be a guide to help with imaginative play and development. Covering topics such as balanced play diet, encouraging imagination and early language skills, the guide also comes with helpful hints and tips on how you can incorporate Schleich products.
The brochure is full of lots of fantastic information. I love all the brilliant advice from renowned child psychologist, Dr Amanda Gummer. Children need to spend their time enjoying many different areas of play including social play, active play, creative play and free play. The brochure talks about these different areas of play in detail and tells you how beneficial they are to a child's development. It also has some fun game suggestions, some your child can play alone and others which are great for group play and teamwork.
The brochure makes for a great read for all parents and all of the information and games can come in useful with or without the use of Schleich toys. It is also completely free so definitely worth a look.
We are a big fan of Schleich toys, they are so realistic looking . My kids love imaginative play and Schleich figures give them that creative outlet. You can see one of their Youtube videos from a while back having fun with Lions and Sharks;
You can download the brochure here. Schleich figures are available to buy at Smyths Toy Stores amongst other large toy retailers.
I have spoken before about Gracie's fear of animals. She is genuinely terrified of all animals no matter their size. We have managed to make some improvements and help her by taking her to farms etc. So she is now ok with going to places if she knows the animals cannot get near her and I am working on helping her find ways to keep calm when she see's animals in public places. Like teaching her to stay still and calm when someone walks past with a dog so she can see it has passed her and that she was brave with no tears.
This month, we received some lovely books from the Parragon Disney movie collection. There are over 20 books in the series from some of the classic Disney/Pixar movies. We were sent two storybooks in celebration of #DisneyBookWeek 23rd May-12 June. Funnily enough, we were sent Frozen and The Jungle Book. Frozen is one of Gracie's favourites and The Jungle Book is Zach's, so they both happily claimed one each!
Gracie was recently sent a Chubby Puppies & Friends fashion carrier play set from Spinmaster toys. I had never heard of Chubby Puppies before but it turns out they are cute little animal friends that can walk and play and they seem very popular! We got a 'tuxedo shorthair cat' which Gracie has named Daisy. Each set has a different theme, ours was a garden theme and included in the set was; Tuxedo Shorthair, butterfly headband, butterfly outfit, bee headband, bee outfit, butterfly accessory (Gracie insists this is the pets key to get home) and pet carrier.
Whilst at The Baby Show I bumped into the team at Funky Giraffe Bibs. I have worked with them a few times mainly back when Zach was a baby and was pleased to see that they have just launched some beautiful baby headbands. The headbands are lovely, comfortable and stretchy. Elsie is always confused for a boy, unless I dress her in obviously girly clothes. Must be her boisterous cheeky attitude!
