Zach's Wait For A Tonsillectomy13:57:00
Last week we finally got the answer we were looking for. After 2 years of Zach suffering with croup/tonsillitis or whatever he has been getting, we saw a specialist who decided enough was enough. He agreed that being ill more than half a dozen times a year and losing numerous weeks of school will not do him any good long term. So Zach is now on the waiting list for a tonsillectomy.
Obviously deciding to let your child have an operation isn't a decision you take lightly. I suffered with Tonsillitis so many times when I was younger but home medicated and I now have to deal with damaged tonsils covered in holes from so many infections. As horrible as it will be for a week or two after the operation, surely it will be a small price to pay for his long term health and he will no longer have to miss out on school fun days or learning with his friends.
Of course I am scared. I am an anxious parent already and I will have to wait for him while he is in surgery whilst Andy stays at home with the girls. All he wants when he is poorly or sad is Mummy cuddles and it will break my heart to see him scared or in pain. It will be the first time any of my kids will have had an operation so it is quite scary!
So now we just have to wait for a date! I would love some advice if anyone has experienced this already? He is allergic to dairy so I can't even fill him up with ice cream post op!
