A few weeks ago I was asked to review some products from WickedUncle.co.uk. I was given a £40 voucher to spend on the website to choose whatever we wanted. I was so impressed with the huge variety of products on their website but it did make it incredibly difficult to narrow it down and spend just £40!

Wicked Uncle specialise in cool toys and gifts for kids of all ages. You can search by gender, age or category to find the right gift for you. The gifts listed are from a large range of well known and loved brands as well as some you may not have heard of yet. One thing they all have in common is that they are pretty damn awesome!

Zach's Wait For A Tonsillectomy

Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Last week we finally got the answer we were looking for. After 2 years of Zach suffering with croup/tonsillitis or whatever he has been getting, we saw a specialist who decided enough was enough. He agreed that being ill more than half a dozen times a year and losing numerous weeks of school will not do him any good long term. So Zach is now on the waiting list for a tonsillectomy.

Obviously deciding to let your child have an operation isn't a decision you take lightly. I suffered with Tonsillitis so many times when I was younger but home medicated and I now have to deal with damaged tonsils covered in holes from so many infections. As horrible as it will be for a week or two after the operation, surely it will be a small price to pay for his long term health and he will no longer have to miss out on school fun days or learning with his friends.

Of course I am scared. I am an anxious parent already and I will have to wait for him while he is in surgery whilst Andy stays at home with the girls. All he wants when he is poorly or sad is Mummy cuddles and it will break my heart to see him scared or in pain. It will be the first time any of my kids will have had an operation so it is quite scary!

So now we just have to wait for a date! I would love some advice if anyone has experienced this already? He is allergic to dairy so I can't even fill him up with ice cream post op!

Giveaway: Win 1 of 5 Dentinox Baby Bundle's

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I have been using Dentinox products ever since Gracie was a baby. She suffered with cradle cap pretty badly, as did Zach and Elsie. A friend gave me some Dentinox shampoo to try  with her and it improved with each use until it eventually disappeared. The same with Zach. Elsie still has it slightly but it is always much better after using the shampoo. Another one of their items that we have used a lot is the Dentinox teething gel. Both girls have suffered when it comes to teething and the teething gel was great to keep on hand for when they suddenly turned into dribbling screaming monsters! I have always had a few tubes on the go at a time and it really has been a lifesaver.

As well as these items Dentinox also have a few brilliant baby products such as colic drops, eye wipes and a medicine dispenser soother. The colic drops comes with a built in syringe for easy use and can be added to baby's bottle or taken directly in the mouth to relieve their discomfort. The eye wipes contain a sterile saline solution and are designed to gently cleanse a baby's eyelids and lashes. These are also perfect for battling conjunctivitis in children of any age! The medicine dispenser soother was designed by a Dr and provides a soothing way to give a pre-measured dose of medicine.  All are available in most supermarkets and pharmacies.

Dentinox have put together a few how to guides with real first time mums and babies and parenting expert Lorraine Thomas, which explain the ailments that their range can help treat and how to use the products.

They have also given me five bundles to giveaway to some lucky readers. Each winner will receive one bundle each which will contain Dentinox Eye Wipes and a Dentinox Medicine Dispenser Soother.

Family Days Out

Our Family Holiday; Haven Doniford Bay

Saturday, May 07, 2016

Last month, we visited Haven for our annual family holiday. We booked through Sun holidays like we usually do and this time we opted for Doniford Bay site in Somerset. We were upgraded to a Gold caravan on arrival which was a lovely surprise as it was quite quiet that weekend despite it being our Easter holidays.

Usually I would write a long blog post about our time but this time I decided to Vlog our holiday and so I have 3 separate videos showing you what we did each day, a look inside our caravan and around the site, a bit of the on site entertainment and the local attractions we visited whilst we were there. It was also my 25th Birthday over the weekend and so we wer super busy.

Review: Welcome Family Booster Seat

Sunday, May 01, 2016

Just before our holiday, we were sent a booster seat from Welcome Family to test out whether it is indeed handy for travelling. On arrival, I was very impressed with how compact it is and that it wouldn't take up much room in the car.

When we arrived we did find that there were only benches and no chairs to use in our caravan!! Typical, but the benches were safe enough for Elsie to sit on to eat anyway which wasn't a problem. We were surprised when we realised that the booster seat fitted in the basket of the pushchair which made it so handy to take to the entertainment in the evenings. My kids had been looking forward to the night time entertainment at Haven for months leading up to our holiday and it was so nice to be able to sit Elsie up at the table with the rest of us and not have to sit her in the pushchair or on our laps. She is a wild child and loves her freedom! It was the perfect height for her at the table and made her so happy to be able to see what was going on around her without feeling restricted.
