Easter with Baker Ross

Saturday, 12 March 2016

With the Easter holidays coming up very soon most of us will be taking care of excitable children and finding ways to keep them entertained. Baker Ross recently sent us another box of fun crafts to keep us busy in the run up to Easter. You can see what we have made below:

The first activity we tried out was putting together the Mini Birdhouse Gift Boxes. They are much smaller than you expect and quite fiddly to stick together but once they are finished they look great. Gracie really enjoyed this activity. She liked colouring in the sides and roof while I did the sticking parts. A pack of 10 costs just £2.99 and you can add string to use them as a hanging decoration.

Next we decorated some Wooden Arrow Plaques in nice Easter themed designs. As we are planning an egg hunt this year, I decorated an 'Egg Hunt' sign and Gracie made one that said 'Hop This Way'. Zach simply coloured his in but really enjoyed himself whilst doing it and was very proud of his creation. Gracie spent lots of time drawing bunnies and eggs and other little doodles. What I liked about this activity was that the kids could just do whatever they wanted and I could leave them to it. They love doing activities that way where they can show me what they have done at the end. A pack of 3 costs £3.45.

Our favourite activity was painting the Bird Ceramic Planters, which come in a pack of 4 for £4.99. We painted the ceramic planters with HobbyLine Brights Porcelain Paint Pots which are available in a pack of 6 for £9.99. The ceramic bird planters are great quality, they are nice and thick and despite being roughly handled by the kids, they stayed in one piece.

Me, Gracie and Zach each painted one for ourselves. The paints cover brilliantly and dry very quickly making it easy to paint without the colours mixing together. You also only need a small amount of paint to cover each bird so they paints will last a long while despite only being small pots. I think they look brilliant now they are done. They would make great gifts or would even just look really nice dotted around the house or garden with single plants.
