With Mother's Day approaching, we were sent some more fun and easy activities for the kids to make some cute gifts. I adore home made gifts and I love to see their proud faces when showing me their creations so we had so much fun making up some gifts for various loved ones.
When I finally admitted that I had been suffering with anxiety and depression late last year, I was in a very bad place. I had reached a point where I felt nothing but hatred and shame in myself. I felt like I was a burden to everyone around me and so I stopped speaking to people and only answered when they sent me messages, simply so they wouldn't be suspicious that something was going on.
It is Friday night and apart from the on/off cries of the baby upstairs, I am sat trying to relax ready for a weekend of escorting Gracie to her different social events. That's right, my 5 year old has a social life that most adults would be envious of. I am quite sure that I am not alone in this as once they hit school age it seems between parties and extra curricular activities there is not much time for rest.
So far this year, Gracie has had a party almost every Saturday followed by her Stagecoach class on a Sunday. I mean I am not complaining, that girl loves her life! She counts down all week until the weekend where she gets to throw on her party clothes, get taken to a venue with all of her friends and run around, eat party food and take home a selection of cake and sweets then spend the next day singing, dancing and performing with her new found friends at Stagecoach. What's not to love?
Last weekend, I went out on Saturday night for drinks with some fellow mums from the school. It was the first time, bar blog conferences, that I have been out drinking since Gracie was a baby. It was a great night but was really strange to be socialising for the sake of having fun. I only usually get out like that if someone gets engaged or dies (Thankfully not often!).
The funniest thing is, I love it. I love to see her enjoying herself and having fun with her friends. I like having conversations with other parents and if I am with Gracie, 9 times out of 10 Andy has the other two kids so it is like a break to me!
God help me when I have three of them in school though!
Gracie was recently sent the fairy charm jewellery set from Interplay to try out. We decided it would be really nice to stay up late over the weekend with the baby in bed so we could make pretty jewellery and enjoy some peace and quiet. Zach decided to join us and we had so much fun!
This weekend we decided it was time to take Elsie in to town and get her fitted for her first pair of walking shoes. She will be 18 months old later this month and started walking just after turning 16 months. Like her big sister she has been a late walker, she has certainly got the hang of it quickly though!
We took her into our local Clarks to be measured, the same place as her brother and sister before her. As she isn't shy in the slightest we found it so easy compared to the other two. She sat chatting away to the lady measuring her feet, which are a teeny tiny 3H! She then ran around the shop floor playing with display shoes and tidying them back away while she waited for the lady to bring out whichever shoes were available in her size. There were only two available so we tried both on and chose some cute pink buckled shoes which looked nicer as she has a bit of an instep and so her feet looked like they bulged out of the other pair available.
It was so strange seeing her running around the shop in her proper big girl shoes afterwards. You would think third time around things wouldn't shock me as much, but I think as she is our 'baby' it seemed all the more strange that she is now at that point where she can just simply walk around outside of the house. She does not like holding hands at all though and has a tendency to run off at any given chance so it will be a while before she is ready for the freedom of walking anywhere!
It is just one of those things that is a big deal though isn't it? When they start to walk they become more independent and they suddenly jump from being a baby to being a toddler. I don't think I was as ready for this stage with Elsie as I thought I was! She does look super cute in them though!
I love to read and have made myself a promise to read more this year. I wouldn't say I particularly have a 'type' when it comes to books but I love action, fantasy novels and I quite enjoy a girly chick lit at times too! I do find it quite difficult to find the time to relax and read with having three small children and housework to do as well as working from home. This is why Quick Reads are so brilliant! I find myself staying up to the early hours sometimes reading but I know that wouldn't suit most people. I have read five of the Quick Reads books for 2016 and here is what I thought of them;
This month Bratz are celebrating Valentine's Day by reminding their BFF's how amazing they are. One of the biggest loves of a girl's life is her BFF, sometimes you may drift apart or not see each other much but you know that whenever you do see each other, it is like you have never been apart. Some people have the same BFF all their lives and some have different special friends at different stages in their life.
