Since I started bleaching my hair, I have been making an effort to take good care of my hair and help it stay in good condition. Of course being a Mum means I don't have the time or money to spend on expensive salon hair treatments. Instead I have some low cost ways you can help your hair from the comfort of your home.

I like to review innovative products and this one is definitely just that. BubbleBum Carseat is an affordable, lightweight, compact, belt positioning car seat which is ideal for playdates, travel, taxis and rental cars. It has seat belt positioning clips in place of arm rests and fits in smaller spaces where other boosters won't. Making it possible to fit three kids across the back seat of most cars. It deflates easily after use making it portable and easy to carry. The BubbleBum seat is suitable for children age between 4 and 11 years who weigh between 15-36kgs and should only be used with a normal 3 point vehicle seat belt.

Review: Bladez Toyz R/C Infatables

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Each of the kids were sent a Remote controlled Inflatable from Bladez Toyz a while ago and I promised them that what we would do with them is inflate them all together and make them race to see who wins. That was easier said than done with it being dark as soon as they finish school! Of course kids are like elephants and never forget and the excitement has been crazy. Even I have been excited to put them to the test. Gracie was sent Baymax, a giant inflatable, Zach was sent BB8 which is a smaller sized inflatable and Elsie was sent Peppa Pig from the pre-school range. Anyway, last week I got around to inflating them all while the kids were at school so they were ready to take out as soon as we were home. So the race turned out to be a hilarious fail. Did anyone win? Watch the video below to find out.

Review: Disney's Moana

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

We have been looking forward to seeing Moana for quite a while and I had promised Gracie I would let her watch it as soon as it is out. Just before the release, Gracie was sent some Moana items from Disney Store UK. They sent her the Moana classic doll and a Pua small soft toy. It arrived just days after she had won a Moana poster at the Disney Store in Birmingham. She was so excited to review them and it made her even more excited to see the movie.

Review: Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Toys & Gifts

Tuesday, December 13, 2016

Last week the kids were sent a huge bundle of Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom goodies. Luckily for Elsie, they arrived before the big two finished school and so she had a whole afternoon to play on her own before she had to share them after school. As you can see she was quite happy with that!

Designer Wood Watch From JORD

Monday, December 12, 2016

I don't often wear watches, I have always found them uncomfortable, mainly because if the weather is hot they burn your skin and if it is cold they can feel so cold on your skin. I used to find myself taking them off or opting not to bother at all and using my phone to tell the time. I recently came across some photos on Instagram of  Jord wooden watches and thought they looked really interesting and that they would most probably solve the problems I have with watches as wood is a much more natural material and it certainly helps that they look gorgeous.

My Top Five Children's Christmas Books

Monday, December 12, 2016

We love story time and we especially love having themed books to celebrate the holidays. Christmas is the most special of the holidays for us as we snuggle up by the light of the Christmas tree and read a Christmas themed story every night before bed. I have a huge pile of Christmas books that come out every December and here are five of the kids favourites!

Ways To Keep Fit As A Mum

Sunday, December 11, 2016

Once you have children, it is easy to stop keeping fit and active, instead opting for what is easier. I find that doing regular exercise helps me to feel more energetic and actually helps a lot with my depression. I can always tell when I have had a few weeks lacking with exercise as I feel really low. I find it especially hard in the Winter months when I want to be inside as much as possible. Here are a few ways to keep active in an enjoyable way around your busy lives, whether you have children or not!

Christmas Gift Guide For Men

Sunday, December 11, 2016

I always find the men in my life to be the hardest to buy for. They all seem to buy what they want, when they want and it leaves me stuck struggling for gift ideas.

Gillette Star Wars Set

There are many Star Wars fans in my family and I am sure I am not the only one. Gillette have released three awesome Star Wars gift sets, each with different contents and a different arty design. This one is celebrating 'Rogue One A Star Wars Story' which is out in cinemas this month. I am so excited to see the film! The gift set contains a Gillette razor and three spare blades. A great AND useful gift for any man this Christmas. The Star Wars sets are available from Boots and other major retailers.

Thursday, December 08, 2016

Back in 2014, Zach was one of the first to test out Toddlebike, the balance bike for toddlers. Well now there is a  new and improved Toddlebike2 and Elsie has been sent a beautiful little pink balance bike to put to the test. To say she loves it would be an understatement.

HIBS100 & Homesense Christmas Party

Wednesday, December 07, 2016

I was recently invited to the HIBS100 & Homesense Christmas party at The Lost & Found Wine bar in Birmingham. It was a last minute decision to go and so I headed there with little knowledge of what was going on! I love Birmingham at Christmas, especially at night with all the pretty lights and the German Christmas Market spread through the streets. I got to walk through the market between the train station and the venue but unfortunately had no time to stop!

Review & Giveaway: Tiny Tears Classic Doll

Tuesday, December 06, 2016

Tiny Tears has been loved by children for generations. She was the first fully functioning feeding, crying and wetting doll with closing eyes and moveable arms and legs. Last year she celebrated her 50th Anniversary with a special celebrative doll which we reviewed here. This year she has a fresh new look. The Classic Tiny Tears comes with a new outfit. You can still feed her with her water bottle to make her wee on the potty, or sit her up to cry real tears. The Classic Tiny Tears doll comes complete with potty, hairbrush, dummy and a bottle.

Elsie has been sent the Classic Tiny Tears to review and we also have one to giveaway to one lucky reader at the end of this post!

Elsie received Tiny Tears last week and so far has put her down only to sleep. Poor Tiny Tears has been given many a reason to cry thanks to being carried around by her hair or dropped out of the pushchair on the school run. Thankfully she isn't a real baby but she is close enough to the real thing for Elsie to love playing with her 'baba'. She loves her pretty dress and that she can put big girl pants on her. She loves that she goes 'n-nights' when you lie her down and her eyes automatically close.

Tiny Tears is a lovely doll with great functions to keep your child interested and enjoying their role as mummy or daddy. She is so unique in comparison to other dolls on the market with the real tears and the beautiful long hair. I haven't yet let Elsie use the wetting feature as she is a nightmare with messy things and I am not ready for that! But it means she will grow with Tiny Tears and eventually discover new ways to play with her.

You can find out more about Tiny Tears at www.johnadams.co.uk or you can buy her from Amazon, Argos, Toys R Us or Smyths Toy Superstores.

Don't forget to enter the competition below and also join us on Thursday 8th December between 11am and 12.30pm for a fun Twitter party with @JohnAdams_Toys for the #TinyTearsParty for a chance to win some great prizes!

Christmas Gift Guide For Children 2016

Monday, December 05, 2016

I love buying for the kids at Christmas and I very rarely struggle to find things they like. I thought I would share some great gift ideas and suggestions based on the likes and interests of my children. Gracie will be 6, just days after Christmas, Zach is 4 and Elsie is 2. Hopefully if you are buying for children of similar ages then this will help you!

My Top Five Family Christmas Movies

Friday, December 02, 2016

One of my favourite things about Christmas is being able to indulge in nice foods whilst watching Christmas movies. It makes me so happy each year when the Christmas movie channels start and I can watch soppy festive films when the kids are not around. I also love watching all the popular family movies. There are so many of them and I think they really make the build up to Christmas so exciting. In no particular order, here are my Top Five!

Christmas At The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham

Thursday, December 01, 2016

On Saturday we headed over to Birmingham to visit The National Sea Life Centre for their Christmas experience to Meet Santa. We have been to National Sea Life Centre Birmingham a few times over the past few years but we have never been at Christmas before. When you arrive there are some lights and a tree near the entrance which are lovely, then you go ahead on your way around the centre.

#Ad Vision Direct UK #PugXmas

Wednesday, November 30, 2016

Vision Direct, the UK’s largest online only retailer of contact lenses, glasses and eye care, is excited to release its Christmas campaign for 2016. Produced by Bespoke Film and Communications, Gizmo Saves Christmas plays on the familiar theme of festive neighbourhood rivalry as well as the age old dog vs. cat debate. They have chosen adorable characters to pull on the heartstrings of us viewers. A dog wearing glasses and a Christmas jumper is the cutest thing I have ever seen AND they have a cat! Cuddles the cat is a beautiful kitty, my kids will love her. I love the competitiveness between the two animals and if you haven't seen it already you MUST!  I don't want to give too much away. I have embedded it below for you to watch yourselves.

The advert features Vision Direct’s brand mascot, Mr Gizmo the pug, as well as a new character, Cuddles the cat. It follows last year’s extremely successful Vision Direct Christmas ad, which amassed over one million views across Facebook and YouTube. You can watch the latest advert or play games, win prizes etc. on the advent calendar which starts on the 1st December.

Fans of Gizmo can also purchase the same glasses as he wears in the advert on the Vision Direct website. They have recently introduced their new range of prescription glasses, which are available from only £19.99 including lenses.

Review: Drayton Manor's Magical Christmas

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

We have had a lovely year as ambassadors for Drayton Manor and last weekend we were invited along to the first day of Drayton Manors Magical Christmas. We were there bright and early ready for opening and got on the first train from Knapford Station to Tidmouth Hault where we travelled along the snowy track and arrived at Tidmouth Hault to find Father Christmas waiting for us! The kids got to say hello to him when we arrived and he handed each of them a letter and envelope along with some crayons and told them to bring it along with them when they visit him later that afternoon.

We then headed over to watch the reindeer be fed by the keepers who told us all about the three reindeer. The kids learnt loads of facts about them and Gracie found it really interesting. We then walked through the zoo to get to the CN Café where they were holding activities to create presents for the animals to be given to them later that day. Gracie and Zach worked together to create a present for the meerkats. They decorated an egg box with some wonderful colouring then filled it with chopped vegetables and mealworms. They then wrapped it in tissue paper and wrote a little message to them on top.

Next stop was The Polar Express 4D Experience in the 4D cinema. If you have seen The Polar Express then you know the story. This is just 15 minutes worth of the film which I thought would ruin it but they have done it so well and it really works. With shaky seats and squirts of water hitting you whilst watching in your 4D glasses. The movie makes you jump and catches you off guard a few times! Gracie and Zach thought it was hilarious. Elsie not so much. I would say to think twice if you have a very small child or a very nervous child. Elsie was ok but did have to sit on my lap after a while and there were a few small children taken out because they got upset.

We then spent a few hours enjoying the rides before heading to the Meerkat manor in the zoo to see them receive their gifts. The keeper through the parcels into the enclosure and it was great watching them work together to open the packages and the noises they made when they managed to get inside each one. All the kids loved watching them!

Then we were ready to visit the Castle of Dreams and see Father Christmas. The kids have waited all year to see inside the Castle of Dreams so were so excited! Father Christmas was great. He spoke to each of the children, except Elsie who had already fallen asleep from excitement! He gave them each a gift bag and let them talk to him for quite a while. It was nice to not feel rushed and he listened to them so attentively before posing for photos. We then carried on through the Castle of Dreams where there was face painting and toys for the kids to play with. It was really lovely and the decorations were really special.

We stayed and waited for the parade and fireworks. The parade started next to Sodor Airport and led to the lake for the start of the fireworks. Now I didn't have a good experience of the parade. The kids were really excited we were waiting early so we were right at the front. The beginning was really good then they started to move. All the characters walked off and everyone was expected to follow. By the time they stopped to start the next bit of the 'show' my kids were trying desperately to get to the side to get a glimpse of what was going on. Then they started moving again and Gracie and Zach were gone. I had Elsie in the pushchair and I couldn't see where they were. I was moving through the crowds but no one would let me past. Staff were trying to push me back while I was trying to explain I had lost two small children. One guy looked sympathetic but no one offered to help. We eventually found them but they were gone at least 5 whole minutes and luckily Gracie had thought to hold on to Zach's hand when she realised she had lost us. After that we decided to keep away from the parade and go and stand safely at the lake to wait for the fireworks. I think the parade sounds like a good idea but there is just not enough room and with so many small children it is not practical. If you take your kids do keep hold of them tightly or pick them up if you can.

However, the fireworks were brilliant. It was a lovely display in festive colours. They weren't too noisy and there was plenty of room for everyone to see them lighting up over the lake. We all enjoyed the Fireworks. It was a lovely end to the day and despite the scare, the kids really enjoyed the Christmas experience.

Chrismas Gift Guide For Women

Monday, November 28, 2016

One of the best gifts you can give a woman is time, time to relax, pamper themselves, read a good book or go and do something for themselves. Especially if that woman is a Mum. I know that I don't spend anywhere near enough time on myself. My time is spent looking after the kids, cleaning or working on my blog. In fact when I do get time to myself, I don't know what to do with it.  I have put a guide together full of items or experiences I would love for myself or I would choose for the other women in my life. Many of these items would be great to make up a DIY personalised hamper.

Review: Boohoo Kids Range

Sunday, November 27, 2016

Back before I was pregnant with Gracie, I used to love buying new outfits every week to go out and let my hair down over the weekend. I used to do so much shopping at Boohoo.com and bought so many beautiful dresses at such low prices compared to all my local high street stores. Well I haven't shopped their for a long while, but they have recently launched their own kid's clothing ranges. To celebrate the launch, they gave me £35 credit to buy whatever I wanted from the children's range.

Planning My Perfect Garden

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

I have a love/hate relationship with my garden. I would love to have one of those beautiful relaxing gardens that you can sit in and enjoy any time of year. Surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers and a nice supply of home grown fruits every summer. In reality, I have an overgrown garden which barely gets any sunlight meaning that most of my plants don't survive and I am lucky if I get one edible strawberry each summer.

Gracie was recently sent the Build a Bear Stuffing Station to review from Spinmaster and I have to say I have never seen her more excited to review an item before.

Review: Astonish Cleaning Range

Friday, November 18, 2016

I hadn't heard of Astonish until they contacted me back in September. I was looking for back to school products and they approached me with their large cleaning range. One of my biggest bug bears with the kids being at school, is them coming home with unknown marks all over their white shirts!

They sent me so many items that it has taken me a while to work my way through trying them all and wanted to be able to tell you what I thought of the whole range. The range includes fabric refresher, mould and mildew remover, stain remover target spray, fabric conditioner, oven and cookware cleaner and oxy plus stain remover.

My Christmas Kitchen Wishlist*

Monday, November 14, 2016

A while ago I wrote about my favourite items from my new kitchen. When I started the renovation last year, I had my heart set on having my perfect kitchen. It is still getting there slowly, and will be tiled this month, but there are still quite a few things that need to be done and a few things I have on my wishlist.

Kinnerton Just Chocolate Free From Range

Thursday, November 10, 2016

Regular readers will know that my two youngest children have dairy allergies. One of the first things people say when they hear this is 'Oh no, they can't eat chocolate!'. Now what would a world without chocolate be? If it wasn't for chocolate I would probably be a good 2 stone or more lighter, but we only live once so why not indulge in nice foods while we can. Luckily, people with allergies or an intolerance to dairy actually can eat chocolate. Cocoa itself has no dairy content, it is only when milk is added in recipes for specific chocolates that it becomes a dairy item. There are actually a few companies who have whole dairy/milk free chocolate ranges. One of them being Kinnerton, who have just re-launched their Free From range and changed the name to 'Kinnerton Just Chocolate'. The range is actually free from milk, egg, gluten and nuts.

Beauty & the Beast is one of my favourite family movies of all time. It is one that I love watching and singing along to with the kids and until now was seriously lacking in related merchandise. Jakks Pacific have recently released a 'Disney Princess Belle Musical Tea Party Cart'. This means that new fans get to play with two of the films most iconic characters during role play and us older fans get to buy our children a toy that fills us with nostalgia.

In The Night Garden Bath To Bedtime

Thursday, November 03, 2016

I think it is safe to say that every parent has heard of In The Night Garden. It is a bit strange, then again I used to watch a show about mice that lived on the Moon when I was a child. Kids love the unusual and the more imaginative the better. All three of my children have been In The Night Garden fans, with Elsie taking a big interest at the moment.

Drayton Manor Star Wars Firework & Laser Show 2016

Saturday, October 29, 2016

As a family of huge Star Wars fans,  as soon as I heard that the big fireworks event was going to be Star Wars themed, I knew it was going to be so much fun for us. We decided to head to Drayton Manor early afternoon to check out the Halloween goings on (I have vlogged this and it will be live on Youtube in the next few days. I will add here once it is live). The kids wore their Halloween costumes especially to trick or treat the Fat Controller, Silly Mummy didn't realise this was an early morning thing and not all day so we didn't actually get to do that!

Of course I have had nights away by myself, I have been to blog events for one night and I even had a few days holiday this year without the kids but my kids have never stayed anywhere but home before. I don't find it as difficult going away for a few days leaving them at home, as I speak to them on the phone lots and am kept constantly busy and it is always nice to come home to their beaming faces excited to see me.

Drayton Manor Theme Park Halloween Events

Sunday, October 23, 2016

It’s more Treat than Trick at Drayton Manor Park this Halloween

Drayton Manor Park will end its action packed 66th season with two weeks of spectacularly spooky half-term fun for the whole family this October.
From 15th to 30th October, Drayton Manor Park will be transformed into a spine-tingling mecca of Halloween fun as part of its special ‘more Treat than Trick’ event.

Don’t forget to knock on the Fat Controller’s door for a trick or treat before you leave. Who knows what yummy or frightful treats are in store!

If you’re looking for something a little scarier, then look no further than the newly refurbished attraction The Haunting. Since 1996, The Haunting has scared visitors of all ages, who love to immerse themselves in the intriguing world of the paranormal. The newly renovated and enhanced attraction takes visitors on a tour of their senses; seeing, smelling, feeling, hearing and even brushing up against slimy and revolting things with its spine-chilling interactive activities. The Haunting is based on the legend of the Drayton Manor Estate vicarage where the sudden passing of the vicar led to a series of strange circumstances and unexplainable events. This time around the eerie vicarage has lain abandoned for the past 20 years, after the series of unexplained disappearances were left unsolved. RIPA, a group made up of young scientists at the forefront of metaphysical research, have set up a series of experiments at the vicarage. After weeks of investigating and analysing test results, they realised that almost everyone entering the vicarage were experiencing different sightings, symptoms and feelings. Upon entering the attraction, members of the public become volunteers of RIPA’s experiment and will be asked to report their findings at the end of the experience. This will provide RIPA with valuable data for its research.

Drayton Manor has a host of thrill-seeking rides perfect to get your heart racing on your day out.

Prices for the Halloween Spook-Tacular start from just £23 for adults and £18 for children and 60+ years. 2-3 years cost just £6 and 0-1 years are absolutely free.
To book tickets, or for more information about the park, visit www.draytonmanor.co.uk or call 0844 472 1950. Reduced prices are available for tickets bought in advance. Becoming A Single Parent

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

I certainly didn't think that at 25 years old, I would be a single mum to three small children. It is definitely not the way that I wanted things to work out. However, I have always said that if there was a point where I saw a breakdown of a relationship that was past fixing, then I would always do what is best for me and the children and end it while we can still be on good terms.

Hot Cookie Dough Dessert (Dairy Free)

Winnie The Pooh 90th Anniversary

Friday, October 14, 2016

One of my fondest memories as a child was reading through a big treasury book full of Winnie the Pooh stories. I would read them over and over and never got bored. I loved A.A Milne's storytelling and her lovable characters. I remember my Dad once took me to a toy museum which contained some  really old traditional Winnie the Pooh stuffed toys and he bought me two small replica ones from the gift shop, which I still have to this day.

Fargo Village Coventry

Fargo Village is a small shopping village near our city centre, which is home to many independent sellers and there is not a high street store in sight. They regularly hold events for the people of the city from vintage weekend markets to food festivals yet it is a place that so many people are yet to visit.

Gracie has taken a great interest in this years Great British Bake Off and I think that it is amazing. I love to see her take an interest in something so practical. Gracie was recently sent a selection of Real Baking kits so we can have our own weekly bake-offs. The first we have tried is the Real Baking Cookie kit.

Happy 4th Birthday Zach

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Today you are 4 years old. 4 years old! Like I tell you every day though, you will always be my baby, along with your sisters. I am so lucky to have such an amazing little boy to call my son. I have never known a child smile as much as you and you never fail to put a smile on my face. You have such a cheeky charm about you and I hope you always stay that way. Always optimistic and seeing the best in everything.

Over the past year I have loved watching how you have changed. You have stopped letting everyone talk for you and have fought to have your voice heard amongst your two very loud sisters and you are fast becoming a chatterbox. You have such an imagination and watching you play when you think no one is watching is amazing. You are my little superhero and you are just completely awesome!

I hope you have the best 4th Birthday and I can't wait to watch how you grow this next year.

When we were sent the Bob The Builder Mash & Mould Playset to review, the kids were excited and I was simply dreading the mess. I am not good with messy play since the last time we tried Play-Doh. Anyway I thought we best give it a try and see what we all thought so that fellow messy play haters can find an honest review.

The Construction site play set itself is a good size. It comes with four hexagon shapes, which can be connected together however you want to order them, 1lb of Mash & Mould play sand, a mould press garage, tiny the crane with wrecking ball, Dizzy, the cement mixer, a double sided figure with Bob and Wendy on either side and a range of different tools. It is really easy to assemble.

Then you just have to open up the sand and you are ready to go. The sand feels so strange, it crumbles so easily in your hands yet is completely mouldable. I put a chopping board out for the kids to lean on with the sand rather than the carpet. It can be rolled up into a ball and flattened just like Play-Doh BUT if you accidentally get it all in the carpet, you simply pick up another piece and dab it on the carpet and it pulls it all up leaving no mess! It is magnetic just like many of these magnetic sand sets around (which I didn't believe would work) and it is brilliant. Even with Elsie, who was stamping it around my living room, we didn't have any mess once we put it all away.

The set itself has so many different stamps and moulds dotted around. Inside Dizzy's cement mixer they can create construction barrels with the sand. The Wendy/Bob figure had a footprint stamp at the bottom to create footprints. Tiny the Crane is covered in moulds, one where you put sand in the tray that opens which creates a brick, then he also has small tool moulds all down his side. Zach and Elsie will play with this for hours creating all sorts to destroy with the wrecking ball.

The only negative I found was once you build tiny the crane and attach him to one of the hexagons, I can't find a way to take him apart again and so he doesn't fit back in the box with all of the other pieces. If anyone figures out a way to do this without breaking him, I would love for you to share. Apart from that, the play set has gone down really well and I don't hate the Mash & Mould play sand, so I would call it a success.
