Christmas Gift Guide for Children17:01:00
Now I find buying presents for my own children really easy. I know what they like and I know exactly what will have them excitedly jumping up and down Christmas morning. I do find buying presents for other people's children a horrific experience. So I thought I would share some gift ideas with you all if you find yourself lacking inspiration for either your own or someone else's child.
Cruzee Balance Bike
This is actually an item we are reviewing but as Zach loves it so much and a balance bike was top of my ideas list this Christmas I thought it was definitely worth sharing. When Gracie was 3 we bought her a huge bike with stabilisers and she still now rides with difficulty even with stabilisers. It is big and bulky for her delicate frame and it is stored in the back of the Garage as it takes up so much room and doesn't get taken out a lot. Zach has had small bikes since he was 1 and after seeing kids on the school run using balance bikes I thought this is definitely the next step for him. The Cruzee balance bike is sturdy and has adjustable seat and handlebar heights to make them perfect for children between 1 & 6. It is actually the world's lightest balance bike (just 1.9kg) and comes in 9 different colours. They are not cheap but at £99.99 (RRP) it would be a brilliant first bike for your child and will last for years.
Schleich DC Superheroes
They may be marketed at boys but I also have a little girl who loves her superheroes just as much as her brother. We are big Schleich fans and have a good collection of their animals. They have recently added these great DC superhero action figures to their collection. The kids will be so pleased to receive these key figures from the Justice League this Christmas. I actually think they are really cool, The Flash is my personal favourite and I really hope they decide to expand this range! I would love to see some female characters or some villains as DC have so many great villainous characters! They are just £5.99 each or you can also buy them as sets on Amazon.
Star Wars Stormtrooper Look-alite
I grew up loving all the original Star Wars films thanks to my Dad and I still remember being able to go and watch the newer trilogy when it was released. This year I introduced Star Wars to Gracie and Zach and wasn't quite prepared for how much they would love it too. Zach at 3 years old knows all of the main characters and collects figures in his room and has a really cool poster from the upcoming movie. For his birthday he got so many retro Star Wars presents and of course Star Wars is top of his list for Christmas too. Now I love this amazing Stormtrooper Look-alite lamp from Maplins. They also do a Darth Vader version which looks equally cool. I have tried it out to see how it looks and it is perfect for on top of Zach's bookshelf in his bedroom. It runs on batteries or can be charged via USB so there are no annoying or dangerous wires. The Stormtrooper Look-alite is £19.99 and available to buy at Maplins.
One of Gracie's biggest hobbies is making Hama Bead creations and like most 4 year old girls she is a little obsessed with anything Frozen. This amazing Hama Bead set is completely Frozen themed and perfect for any little (or big) Frozen fan. Not only would this make the perfect gift for the big day, but it would also be a great pre-Christmas activity. We love to use Hama beads to create decorations for every occasion and on Christmas eve we will be making these Frozen creations to hang on our tree. I will make sure I share the photos once they are done. The Frozen Hama bead set is available at a few different online stores and has a RRP of £16.99. The set contains around 4000 individual beads, 2 connecting boards and 1 ironing sheet along with detailed pictures to show you how to create each character.
Miss Nella Nails
We have reviewed Miss Nella children's nail polish before but they have recently launched a new collection with lots of exciting new colours! The thing we love most about Miss Nella is the fact it is peel-able so can be used whenever without the worry of removing it for school or even just the worry of using chemicals to remove it. The new colours are really lovely they have Poppy Fields (orange), Cherry Macaroon (red), Blue Bell (pale blue), Sun Kissed (yellow), Tickle Me Pink (pink) Strawberry 'n' Cream (dark pink). Gracie loves all of them but especially the orange and pinks. Miss Nella nail polishes are £5.99 each or you can purchase a six pack in your choice of colours as a gift pack for £24.99.
The Great Cream Robbery Book
My kids love a good book. Especially now Gracie is trying to read herself, she takes such a big interest in everything that is happening. The Great Cream Robbery is about a cat that really wants the cream, so much so that she hatches a plan to steal the yummy cream from the cows. A brilliantly charming story which Gracie and Zach really enjoyed, with lots of funny moments and a nice happy ending. A perfect gift for the kids this Christmas. The book is available in the Rodda's online shop for £7.99.
The Aquabeads dazzling jewel creations set would make a great gift for any girly girl. With colourful aquabeads, beautiful creations are simply a spray of water away! Create funky jewel rings by simply choosing one of the template designs provided and using the specially designed layout tray to place your jewel beads in position. Spray with water and the jewel beads magically stick together! The templates can be re-used again and again or you can create your own cool designs. The kit contains over 500 jewel beads, 1 bead case, 1 curved layout tray, 8 template sheets, 6 ring bodies, 1 sprayer and instructions. The set is aimed at children 4 + and I would say the age recommendation is spot on. Gracie is just the perfect age at nearly 5 and can easily use Aquabeads with minimal supervision. The Aquabeads Jewel Rings set and other Aquabead sets are available at many online and in-store at most toy retailers.
I have always been so excited for Gracie to get to the age where she can play with and appreciate Sylvanian Families. This year she has started to take an interest in her dolls house and uses her imagination to play properly so I thought it was about time I introduced Sylvanian Families. I gave her the Striped Cat Family, they are really cute with a Mum, Dad and two children all in cute little outfits. They were a huge hit! They are the perfect size for her large dolls house, although she now has a few Sylvanian Families play sets on her Christmas list. There are so many different animal families, buildings, vehicles and other playsets to collect that I think it is something that she can enjoy building a collection of on each Christmas and Birthday for years to come. The RRP is £15.99 which is a good price especially considering they hold their value and will be played with for years.
Earlier this year Bratz made their big comeback! I was gutted to miss their big reveal event in the Summer. Gracie loves her dolls after discovering My Little Pony Equestria Girls early this year, she has taken a huge interest in other dolls and their different personalities, styles and accessories. She also loves the stories behind them. The Bratz Snowkissed dolls are all about hitting the slopes and have a range of associated accessories that come with the doll such as clothes, shoes and even a sled with stickers to personalise it. Gracie will love the Cloe Snowkissed doll with her blonde hair and blue eyes just like her and I am sure there will be lots of other young girls who will have Bratz on their lists to Santa this year. They still have a passion for fashion but this time the Bratz girls are all about being yourself and enjoying life. The Snowkissed dolls have a RRP of £32.99 but I have seen them with massive savings at Toys R Us and Smyths Toy Stores so it is worth shopping around!
Some of these items were sent for consideration in my gift guides. Others were bought by me but all opinions are my own.
