Review iCandy Raspberry Pushchair

Thursday, 1 October 2015

You may already know that Elsie is a big iCandy fan. We have already tried and tested the iCandy Strawberry 2 and written two reviews part one and part two. Recently, we were sent the iCandy Raspberry to try out on our camping trip last month.

The iCandy Raspberry is lightweight and much smaller than any other iCandy pushchair. It's slimline design means that when folded it takes up much less room than my Strawberry 2, in fact I was so pleasantly surprised that we managed to fit everything we needed to take for a family of 5, with three children under 4, in the boot of a Ford C Max. That is with the pushchair lying on its side right at the front of the boot for easy removal.

A great feature of the iCandy Raspberry is that it is free standing when folded. This makes things so much easier when moving it around or finding somewhere to store it. It also means you don't get dirt all other the fabric from lying it in a muddy field! We kept the Rapberry standing in the main room of the tent when not in use but one evening Elsie fell asleep in it just before bedtime and so we wheeled it in, tucked some blankets over her and left her sleeping in it until she woke up before transferring her into her cot.

My favourite feature is the storage pod at the front end of the pushchair, kind of like a pushchair glove compartment. It is such an innovative idea, giving greater protection to your valuables while you are on the go. I can easily fit my purse, keys and phone in the compartment to save carrying a change bag whilst on the school run and saves me rummaging through the added bags, coats, colouring pictures dumped in the basket for the walk home. It is easily accessible whether the pushchair is folded or unfolded, parent or world facing. The basket also seems a lot more protected than the Strawberry 2. If it rains I find that the belongings in the basket take far less of a hit by the rain than the Strawberry, or in fact any other pushchair I have had.

Of course, one of the most important points when choosing the right pushchair is whether or not it is comfortable for your baby. The iCandy Raspberry is suitable from birth to 25kgs, it fully reclines so the seat is suitable from birth, although I would definitely invest in a newborn pod for some added comfort and warmth for small babies. It is also compatible with many different car seats making it perfect for transporting a young baby around shops or to appointments straight out of the car. Elsie is 13 months now so we haven't needed to use these features, but had I received the Raspberry when she was a young baby, I would definitely have taken advantage of using the car seat on the frame with all of her constant hospital visits. As you can see above, Elsie loves the iCandy Raspberry. She loves the freedom of being able to see everything around her, the seat unit is quite open that way and the hood is very flexible to move to suit.

There is a choice of chassis colour with the Raspberry, You can choose between chrome and black. I chose black as I think it has a great elegant look about it.

Once again I have had so many compliments about my pushchair. The mums on the school run love it and when we visited the Lakes on our camping trip, we decided to take a boat tour where we had to leave the pushchair by the boats exit. When we came to collect it a Woman actually said 'Oh no, are you taking that? I was planning my pushchair shopping!' Apparantly she was expecting and loved the colour and style.

The Sunflower yellow flavour pack was always a talking point and I loved seeing people admiring it in the street. I felt like it was time for a change though last week and so purchased two new flavour packs; Wisteria and Fuschia. I have the Fuschia on at the moment as, although I have two girls, I have never had a pink pushchair and I love it! It is so beautiful in real life. I have a yellow liner for use with my Sunflower yellow pack and a black liner which will thankfully go with any colour flavour pack and changing the flavour pack is so easy that it takes no more than a few minutes. The flavour packs contain an interchangeable hood and harness pads. The material is quite easily cleaned with warm soapy water. As you can imagine a bright yellow pushchair does attract mess but it always cleaned up lovely.

Having seen all seven of the iCandy Raspberry colours 'in the flesh' I can honestly say I love all the colours so whether you prefer classic black or in your face bright's, there is something for everyone to love.

The only negative points I have found are that the rain cover looks a bit 'ill fitted' when in parent facing mode. It may be how I am fitting it but it doesn't look as good as the Strawberry 2 raincover. Also if you are going up rocky, hilly terrains the small wheels do struggle a little, but the fact that it is easy to lift and carry thanks to the smaller lighter wheels, completely outweighs that negative.

I can honestly say, I love the iCandy Raspberry. It is now my everyday pushchair with my Strawberry 2 being used as our car pushchair to save space in the house. The Raspberry is so handy for school runs, day trips, holidays.

After watching the demo video, I have decided I may need to invest in the fab looking Raspberry footmuff soon with winter fast approaching. You can see pretty much how to do everything in this video below from the iCandy Youtube channel and it also shows you all the great features up close.

The iCandy Raspberry package including seat liner and flavour pack costs around £460. It is a little pricey for a stroller, but with iCandy you are paying for a high quality, long lasting, elegant and stylish pram and taking that into consideration, I think it is worth the price tag. On their own the flavour packs are £40 if you want the extra pack for a colour change or to mix and match. You can buy the iCandy Raspberry or read about all the features over in the iCandy Store.

You can also keep an eye out for updates on the latest products or even share your photos with iCandy (They are a lovely company and love to see their young fans) on their social media pages and by using the hashtag #icandymoments or #iCandylife.

    1. Definitely! I find most parents regret their first pushchair if they haven't researched in depth first. I genuinely wish I had splashed out on a good one back when I had Gracie rather than going through so many to find one that suited me.

  2. I love how far prams and pushchairs have come in recent years. There was nothing like this even nine years ago when my boys were little

  5. The glove compartment storage sounds like a great idea, I was always worried someone would swipe my handbag if I hooked it over the handle. Great too that it stands up when folded, we got horrible marks in our hall from where ours used to stand against the wall.

    1. Yes. I get nervous about having my valuables dangling from a pushchair! I totally agree about the free standing. There are so many reasons why all pushchairs should be free standing. dirty pushchairs and dirty or damaged walls being the main ones.

    1. I have only seen one bad review and I was shocked as I have really genuinely loved it and like I said in my post there are only one or two small negatives I could even think of. I guess it depends how you are planning to use it. It is perfect for our wants and needs.

    1. It was perfect for Summer! I was worried about it getting dirty in the Winter with the wind and rain and I hate a dirty pushchair so was great that I could buy a darker colour and the pink is the perfect shade.
