Review: Fisher Price Butterfly Dreams 3in1 Projection mobile

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Elsie is already a huge fan of anything Fisher Price and the Butterfly Dreams 3 in 1 projection mobile is no exception. Elsie doesn't sleep in her cot overnight yet as she is quite hard to settle and will be sharing a bedroom with Gracie so we have been waiting for the right time to move her in there without unsettling Gracie when she has school to get up early for. We have however tried to pop her in her cot occasionally to get her used to the surroundings and have popped one of her favourite teddies in there along with this Baby Mobile.

Week Five Weigh In - All about the 5:2.

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

So after starting the 5:2 plan on Saturday, I finally feel like I am getting somewhere. I am excited for my fast days for the challenge of sticking to 500 calories and enjoying the food I do get to eat on those fast days. I also look forward to my non fast days and being able to have an odd small treat here and there without feeling major guilt. I am actually for once really enjoying my food and forward planning almost everything I eat. I am even finding that I am more aware of the difference between actual hunger and just feeling like eating.

Elsie At 8 Months

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Elsie turned 8 months old yesterday. I don't quite know how as I am quite sure I have just written the last update or did I? Time is passing so quickly! I am seeing pregnancy and birth announcements everywhere and wondering how it is possible that my last baby is racing her way through the baby stage.

National Stationery Week 2015 #NatStatWeek

Monday, April 27, 2015

With it being National Stationery Week this week,I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about all things stationery. I think it is definitely a myth that technology is completely taking over, which probably sounds strange coming from a blogger who spends a lot of their time writing and posting online. Despite the fact I spend lots of time writing online, I actually have a huge love for stationery and putting pen to paper. I still use paper calendars and wall planners, I carry a notepad on me at all times, I even occasionally write my blog posts whilst out and about on scraps of paper before copying them at home. I have to admit to having a whole big underbed storage box full of stationery goodies!

Week Four Weigh In

Saturday, April 25, 2015

This week has been a strange one. Despite starting to see a difference in my body I kind of crashed. I have really struggled with motivation and therefore not found the time to exercise and have eaten a fair bit of naughty food! Some how I have managed to maintain the same weight but I am really disappointed with myself and have now found myself determined to do better this week.

This week after a recommendation from a friend I am giving the 5:2 diet a go. This means I will be fasting for two days of the week and eating normally for the other five days. On the fasting days I will be restricted to just 500 calories a day and I will be aiming for roughly 2000 on the non fasting days. Today I have started with a fasting day and have found it surprisingly easier than expected. With a yoghurt for breakfast, an apple for lunch, half a snack pack of almonds as a snack, one slice of toast with half a tin of beans for dinner followed by another yoghurt, I have managed to stay just under the 500 calories. I couldn't eat like this every day but I am interested to see what effect doing this just twice a week will have on both my body and my health.

I am also aiming on drinking 8 glasses of water per day. I usually have one or less and that will be all I drink all day which isn't anywhere near enough to keep my body hydrated. I have synced my Fitbit Charge with the myfitnesspal app so that I can measure my calorie and water intake properly as well as my steps and exercise.

This week I will get back to my 30 Day Shred workouts and my Biosynergy Active Woman protein drink (on non fasting days). The mixture of these two seemed to be what was finally working to tone my stomach and legs so I can't wait to get back to it!

Family Days Out

Family Day Out: Hatton Adventure World

Monday, April 20, 2015

Last week was the second week of the Easter holidays for us and after some great news that Elsie is now well and discharged from hospital we decided to celebrate with an afternoon out as a family. I used to go shopping at Hatton Country World a lot a a kid with my Dad and Stepmum and it is a place that means a lot to me. However, I had never visited the farm.

As I have mentioned before, Gracie is scared of animals, we have no idea why but with a farm trip coming up with school we decided to take her ourselves first to show her that the animals are nice and not scary at all! We decided on Hatton farm as it is the cheapest locally that included both indoor and outdoor activities in one price and it has so many different activities for children.

Week Three Weigh-In

Saturday, April 18, 2015

I am posting a little late today after a nightmare few days with my house falling apart again! My house may be having a bad week but it hasn't stopped me staying on track with my dieting and exercise. In fact my eating has been better than ever. It has showed on the scales too with a loss of 3lbs this week! That means I have hit my first 1/2 stone loss.

Easter School Holidays #betterwithcake

Friday, April 17, 2015

Well it has to be said any day is better than cake. What makes the Easter holidays even more special for me is that my birthday always falls within the holiday. Of course that means there is always an excuse for cake! As part of the #betterwithcake challenge we were sent some lovely Mr Kiplings cakes to use as we pleased and so I decided what better than a celebratory birthday picnic in one of my favourite parks with my favourite people.

We packed up a yummy picnic and set off to Jephson Gardens in Leamington to spend the day enjoying the glorious sunshine. We arrived around lunchtime so started on our picnic straight away next to a beautiful fountain. Of course our picnic was made so much better thanks to Mr Kipling. The kids love Cherry Bakewells, French Fancies are my personal favourite and Andy scoffed most of the Viennese Whirls. I have to say we do usually have angel and lemon slices at every family picnic because you just can't have a picnic without cake.

We then spent a few hours playing in the park, feeding the ducks and just enjoying spending some time together, just the five of us. It was a really lovely day and I have so many lovely photographs to remember the day.

That was my #betterwithcake moment.

Review: Disney Palace Pets Walking & Wriggling Pet

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

For a few months Gracie had seen Disney Palace Pets across toy stores and supermarkets and asked many times for one. I had just popped it to the back of my mind and thought I will look out closer to Christmas/birthdays etc. I hadn't really looked into what they were or what they do.

Week Two Weigh-In

Friday, April 10, 2015

It was bad luck that week two fell over Easter and this weeks weigh in was on my birthday! I have to say I haven't done too badly considering! I haven't really eaten much chocolate just a teeny bit of egg which I really did ration and a slice or two of birthday cake. I made a huge roast dinner Easter Sunday and filled my plate with mostly vegetables and had a meal out for my birthday but was careful to choose one of the healthier options. I have even had two very healthy picnics this week with all salad/fruit/veg and no junk at all for all of us which the kids have loved.

Week One: The First Weigh-In

Wednesday, April 01, 2015

So you may have seen my blog post on Monday declaring my new healthy eating and exercise plan. Well as I started last Wednesday I have decided Wednesday will be weigh-in day. This week has been all about the healthy eating. I have ditched the junk and been eating three healthy meals a day with one or two healthy snacks throughout the day. Mainly fruit/veg/salad with small amounts of meat and have hugely cut the amount of carbs I eat. I have also restricted my drinking to just water after months of drinking lots of fizzy pop.

Overall I feel so much better. I haven't noticed a difference physically but I feel healthier and more energetic which is a huge plus. I have found the healthier I feel the more motivated I am to stick to my healthy diet.

This next week I am going to ease myself into a new exercise regime. I have invested in some proper running shoes to go jogging and will be attempting some stomach toning exercises at home.

Look out next Wednesday to see how I get on!
