Review: Fisher Price Newborn To Toddler Play Gym21:47:00
We are huge Fisher Price fans and were thrilled when we were recently offered the Newborn-to-Toddler Play Gym to review. With three stages that mean the play gym can grow with your baby, it ensures that your child can still be entertained for years to come. I say this as both my 4 year old and 2 year old have been happily playing along with Elsie and her new baby gym on a daily basis!
The gym itself is really simple to assemble. The activity bar slots straight into the legs and the hanging toys then easily attach to the bar. The mat can also be attached to slots on each character (Giraffe/Zebra) leg to avoid it slipping when baby is wriggling. The play gym comes with five plastic balls which are small enough for a baby to grip and can be used to dropped down the arch through the characters on either side, setting off musical sounds and sliding out through the front of either the Giraffe or Zebra. The play gym requires 3xAAA batteries in order to light up and play music and sounds. There are two musical modes; long play for up to 20 minutes of music and a baby activated short play, in which the music is activated when your baby pulls on the toys or rolls a ball into the top of one of the characters.
Elsie has just turned six months old and is just getting to the stage where she wants to explore and grab everything. She is so aware of what is going on around her but gets frustrated at her lack of being able to get about. The Newborn-to-Toddler play gym is perfect for keeping her entertained for longer periods of time than any of her other toys. The bright colours alone make the whole play gym appealing to the eyes of a baby before you even consider all the fantastic extras. The toys hanging from the activity bar, hang at different levels making Elsie think about which she wants to reach for and helping strengthen her upper body whilst trying to lift herself towards them. Elsie also really likes the balls, she likes to hear them crash against each other when they travel down the characters and she also loves to hold them herself and of course try and eat them!
I also find it is a great toy when it comes to encouraging sibling bonding. Zach loves to help Elsie by getting the music started for her or pushing the balls down inside the characters so they come crashing down next to her, making her giggle. She is so in awe of him that she just loves to watch what he is doing and tries to play with him. Then Zach of course loves it as it doesn't belong to him. There is nothing more fascinating to a toddler than someone else's toys.
The Fisher Price Newborn to Toddler play gym is available to buy at Argos and is currently on offer for £42.99* (usual price £56.99).
