Review: Parragon Books Little Learners

Tuesday, 2 July 2013

Whilst at Britmums last weekend, I came across the Parragon Books stand where I was given the opportunity to join their book review club. There was no way I could say no! I got the choice between a few different book packs to take home with me and I chose a pack of two 'little learners' books for Zach as he doesnt have many books of his own. The pack contained 'Peek-a-Boo Rainbow' and 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'. Both books are lovely first books for any baby.

The 'Peek-a-Boo Rainbow' book is a board book meaning it is hard-wearing, which is a must for any baby. Zach loves this book as the top can be used as a handle so he can move around easily with it dragging it around with him. He also loves the colours inside and the peek-a-boo holes. Each page is dedicated to a different colour of the rainbow with nature inspired pictures related to that colour. For example, the first page is red and has pictures of ladybirds and apples and has a peep hole giving a sneak peek of something hiding on the next page. It is such a fun book and will be great when it comes to teaching colours.

'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' is Zach's favourite book out of the two. Again, it is a board book so won't be easily damaged. What is different about this book is that it is a light and sounds book. It has four buttons on the top of the book that when pressed light up and play four different soothing sounds. Inside the book contains the words to the classic Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song along with  some lovely illustrations. What I love about this book is that the buttons are easy to press so Zach can press them himself and he never gets bored of it, he still gets so excited every time it makes a noise. On the back of the book there is a recommendation of 1+ but Zach is 9 months and it is perfect for him at the moment.

We are loving our Parragon books, they are such good quality and are really loveable books. It is so nice for Zach to have his own set of books with no arguing from Gracie about him taking hers. In fact she is the one who keeps pinching his when he isn't looking! The books are both being read daily and can see them both being a favourite in this house for a long time to come.

As well as children's books Parragon also sell cookbooks and adult non-fiction books so there is something for everyone. You can find out more by visiting http://www.parragon.com/uk/home
